I recently did a remix of a Toronto Electronica/Rock group Freedom or Death for their upcoming Remix EP. The vocals are ghosty and are accompanied by a nice bouncy dubstep wobble.

Here is the Freedom or Death's bio:

We are a duo from Toronto, who released our first self-titled EP in June 2010.  We had both been in the Canadian music industry for over 10 years and decided to leave the corporate environment of the major labels to pursue “our” art over “their” business. Every song (or child as we call them) was raised to be the best it could be on its own.  We didn't worry about it making sense and how it would fit in with the rest of our songs (children).  What resulted is a mix of genres from Electronica, Indie Rock to Folk.  (Comparisons… reviewers have likened our music to TV On The Radio, Miike Snow and Primal Scream).  We have been fans of film director Spike Jonze ever since he shot the video for The Breeders “Cannonball”.  We were inspired by his short film “How They Got There” and wrote a song called “Lost In Dances” about it.  Check out the Freedom or Death remix of this amazing short film.  We are also enclosing the first visuals of the group since up until now we wanted the music to speak for itself.

Crazy crazy week

Thank you to all the bloggers, DJs, and readers that have been spreading my remix around the web. It's awesome to see so many people go nuts for it.

Some guy even uploaded it to YouTube


Whats really surprising me is how many smaller local blogs are posting the tune. It started with the The Music Ninja, then Earmilk picked it up, and then about a million other places.

One of the funniest ones was from the French PaperBlog. They used the phrase "ne casse pas des briques, mais nous donne au moins l’illusion de sortir, un temps, de notre léthargie…" which basically means that while it isn't great, it'll do.

Anyways, thanks to everyone that posted it. Keep an eye out for more remixes on their way. A Toronto group called Freedom or Death just asked me to do a remix of their song This Crowded Room which is sweet. It has a really lovely mellow vibe that I definitely dig.

Hello friends

For the last two years I’ve been DJing almost every Friday at Acadia’s campus bar The Axe. It’s a pretty mainstream bar but I introduced a lot of electro and house to the place and people seemed to dig it (most of the time). The following mix is a small sampler of some of the remixes that went over really well as well as a whole heap of huge electro bangers. There is something in here for everyone, which is sorta how I ran my DJ night.

The Plan

Long time no post, I know... I've been busy with uni graduation and preparing my whirlwind European and Quebec journey...

Once I hit the road updates will be more regular, I'm doing language exchanges in Jonquiere and Bordeaux for the next three months so music will be a pretty constant companion!
